L1 Frontend Engineer

<h2><strong>Job Description</strong></h2> <h3><strong>The Problem</strong></h3> <p>OpenFX moves real money across global corridors. Customers rely on our web products to get accurate pricing, understand fees, complete transactions confidently, and track money movement in real time. A small UI bug, misleading copy, or broken state can lead to failed transactions, support load, or loss of trust.</p> <p>As we scale, we need engineers who can build clean, reliable, and intuitive user experiences on top of complex backend systems without introducing risk or confusion.</p> <p>We are hiring Frontend Engineers who can ship user facing features, integrate safely with backend APIs, and take ownership of product quality.</p> <p>If we do not invest in strong frontend foundations early,will not translate into customer trust or business outcomes.</p> <hr> <h3><strong>What You Will Actually Do &amp; Own</strong></h3> <p>In your first 6 to 12 months, you will:</p> <ol> <li><strong>Build and own user facing flows</strong> such as pricing and quotes, transaction creation, payment status tracking, and history views.</li> <li><strong>Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs</strong> in a safe, predictable, and debuggable way.</li> <li><strong>Handle complex UI states correctly</strong> including loading, retries, partial failures, and eventual consistency.</li> <li><strong>Improve reliability and clarity of critical flows</strong> by reducing user errors, unclear states, and support tickets.</li> <li><strong>Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend engineers</strong> to translate requirements into shipped features.</li> <li><strong>Improve key frontend metrics</strong> such as conversion rate, drop off, page performance, and error rates.</li> </ol> <hr> <h3><strong>What Success Looks Like</strong></h3> <p>You will be measured on:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Correctness of user flows:</strong> UI reflects backend truth and does not mislead users</li> <li><strong>Product quality:</strong> Screens are fast, clear, accessible, and intuitive</li> <li><strong>Execution:</strong> Features are shipped on time with minimal rework</li> <li><strong>Ownership:</strong> Bugs are fixed fully, not just patched</li> <li><strong>Collaboration:</strong> Works well with designers, PMs, and backend engineers</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><strong>Requirements</strong></h3> <p><strong>Required (Non negotiable):</strong></p> <ul> <li>0 to 3 years experience building frontend applications</li> <li>Strong fundamentals in TypeScript, HTML, and CSS</li> <li>Experience with a modern frontend framework (React preferred)</li> <li>Basic understanding of REST APIs and async programming</li> <li>Attention to detail and user experience</li> <li>Ability to explain implementation choices clearly</li> <li>Familiarity with modern frontend build tools and workflows (e.g., Vite, Webpack, Parcel)</li> <li>Basic understanding of bundling, code splitting, and asset optimization</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred (Accelerates ramp, not required):</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with TypeScript</li> <li>Familiarity with frontend performance and accessibility</li> <li>Experience working on production products</li> <li>Exposure to fintech or transactional products</li> </ul> <hr> <h3><strong>Why This Role</strong></h3> <p><strong>Impact:</strong> You build the interfaces customers use to move real money.</p> <p><strong>Learning:</strong> You gain exposure to complex systems early in your career.</p> <p><strong>Ownership:</strong> You own features end to end, from UI to API integration.</p> <p><strong>Growth:</strong> Clear path to grow into senior frontend or fullstack roles.</p> <p><strong>Support:</strong> You work closely with experienced engineers and designers.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
