Position Purpose

The School of Public Health (Global Mental Health & Flourishing Lab) is looking for a service-minded, detailed-oriented, and enthusiastic Project Coordinator to support ongoing work on global mental health within the lab. The role will be primarily focused on coordination of the lab’s internationally-based projects, including projects in Ukraine, Germany, and China. The project coordinator will direct the day-to-day operations of research studies including managing communications, data, and overseeing workflow. Organization skills, attention to detail, excellence in administrative tasks including IRB and other study documents, ability to effectively execute research in accordance with research protocol, and organize team members and facilitate a healthy lab culture are essential. We are looking for a team member who can effectively interact with a variety of participant populations and internal and external partners at a high level of integrity and oral and written communication skills. The project coordinator will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks: preparing study progress reports, maintaining and updating the lab website, holding meetings with staff and student RAs weekly about progress, goal-setting, and problem-solving. The project coordinator will set up and maintain data tracking systems, manage datasets involved in various projects, and facilitate data cleaning and preliminary analysis. The project coordinator will also support the PI and project manager in scheduling, event planning, and other administrative tasks.

This position is hybrid eligible and requires a minimum of 3 days/week in person. 

All offers of employment are contingent upon a criminal background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown University.

The duration of the position is at least 1 year (100% FTE), with a commitment of 2 years preferred. There is a possibility of renewal for several years depending on satisfactory progress and funding availability. This is a fixed term position with an end date of 5/31/2027 which may be extended based upon available funding.

Job Qualifications and Competencies

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years relevant experience. Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Supervisory experience highly preferred. 

  • Report writing experience required.

  • Experience working in a clinical, laboratory and/or medical site required. 

  • Proficiency with Excel required.  

  • Experience with Qualtrics required. 

  • Strong computational skills required. 

  • Experience and familiarity with statistical programs desired (SPSS, R, SAS) 

  • Experience with public data repository practices such as Github desired. 

  • Knowledge of research methodology and reporting; experience and familiarity with grant funding and IRB   procedures necessary; knowledge of issues related to addictions and treatment evaluation. 

  • Excellent verbal presentation skills, interpersonal skills, and written communication skills required. 

  • Enthusiastic and professional attitude.

  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse communities and global partners. 

  • Willingness to travel locally, domestically, and internationally as needed. 

Job Competencies

  • Knowledge of research methodology and reporting; experience and familiarity with grant funding and IRB procedures necessary; knowledge of issues related to addictions and treatment evaluation. 

  • Ability to function as a research team member and leader; ability to motivate employees to meet performance goals.

  • Requires flexibility, creativity, willingness to adapt to and meet changing priorities, ability to work as part of a team using a problem‐solving orientation.  This position involves overseeing all aspects of assessment across several clinical and non‐clinical sites.

  • The ideal candidate for the position will have strong organizational and communication (written and

  • interpersonal) skills, can work independently with the support of supervision, and performs well in a team science setting. 

  • Experience with and interest (personal and professional) in mindfulness and mental health, particularly in global settings, are preferred.
