Description of Work
*** This is a readvertisement. All previous applicants MUST reapply to be considered. ***The WNC Agricultural Center is a self-supporting multi-use complex that operates 365 days per year. The primary purpose of the facility is to serve the horse/livestock and trade show industries and meet the needs of both the agricultural and non-agricultural community by providing and maintaining buildings and grounds capable of hosting equine events, tradeshows, conventions, seminars, community events and public expos, as well as, carrying out all activities of the annual North Carolina Mountain State Fair. The North Carolina Mountain State Fair serves the agricultural, manufacturing, commercial, educational, governmental, and other agencies across the State and its visitors.
This position is responsible for providing all administrative support, human resource management, budgetary functions, data entry, and procurement functions for the WNC Ag Center Management Team. This position will involve communication with the public, state agencies, vendors/contractors, consultants, and department/division staff. The position works under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Manager of Expositions. The Office Manager directly supervises the WNC Agricultural Center’s Assistant Office Manager, the NC Mountain State Fair’s Competitive Entry Department Coordinator and Exhibits and Concessions Coordinator, as well as temporary staff of the NC Mountain State Fair.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $45,431 - $72,000
- Experience in the following systems: NC Financial System, NC E-procurement Purchasing System, and NC Beacon/SAP System.
- Knowledge of accounting and procurement policies and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of supervisory practices, personnel policies, and procedures.
- Skill in planning, organizing, and directing the workflow of the Administrative Staff.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in developing, communicating, and applying departmental policies and procedures.
