Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Associate Program Manager to help lead a large-scale, high-profile residential energy efficiency program in Michigan. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in program management, a deep understanding of energy efficiency for residential and multi-family sectors, and some experience and exposure to electrification. This role requires strong leadership and client management skills, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders effectively.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Embrace, operate and lead within the core values.
  • Assist in leading and managing large-scale residential energy efficiency programs from inception to completion.
  • Manage direct reports and oversee program staff where applicable. This includes interviewing, planning, assigning, completing performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring and directing work. 
  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, and partners at various levels to ensure program success and address any concerns or issues.
  • Monitor program performance, conduct regular assessments, and identify and assist in the implementation of improvements to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including engineering, finance, and marketing, to ensure cohesive program execution.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on program progress, outcomes, and impact to clients and senior management.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to energy efficiency and electrification.
  • Monitor program budgets, track expenses, and assist in meeting financial goals.
  • Escalate all issues and troubleshoot as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience the energy efficiency sector in Michigan.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency principles, practices, and technologies for residential and multi-family buildings.
  • Excellent client interfacing skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Detail oriented and able to prioritize and delegate appropriate work assignments to staff.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree.
  • 5 plus years of experience in program management of energy efficiency programs in Michigan.
  • Familiarity with project management software. 
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management software.

Licenses & Certifications: 

  • CAPM or PMP Certification, preferred.
  • BPI Building Science Principles Certification, preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willing to travel (within Michigan) up to 20%.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools and/or controls.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Noise level is typically low to moderate.
