GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (required)
  • 3 or more years of recent industry experience
  • Ability to teach both classroom and lab/shop environments
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 43, 65, 147, etc.)
  • High school diploma or associate degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inspection Authorization (IA)
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience
  • Experience with modern avionics / glass cockpit systems
  • Curriculum development or LMS experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in Aviation, Education, or related field)


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

Instruction & Curriculum

Teach assigned classes per Board policies using Canvas LMS for all non-lab portions. Issue syllabi and unit objective sheets each semester, keep classes in session for the full scheduled time, and use teaching techniques that motivate students to reach their potential.

Student Support & Records

Maintain accurate, up-to-date attendance and grade records, identify no-shows promptly, set aside time for student conferences and tutoring, and participate in Student Learning Outcomes assessment and review.

Professional & Administrative Duties

Work a minimum of 35 hours per week on campus during fall and spring semesters, complete monthly electronic timesheets, attend faculty and departmental meetings, serve on committees, participate in evaluations, and cooperate with college, division, and department policies.

Equipment & Budget

Maintain responsibility for inventory, care, and upkeep of instructional equipment and supplies. Recommend budgetary items and assist in textbook and library material selection.

Professional Development

Maintain current credentials and certifications, develop a personal improvement plan based on evaluations, and participate in staff development, professional associations, and related activities.

Additional Requirements

Complete periodic Canvas and hybrid training, demonstrate computer proficiency in the classroom, adhere to the department's no-gossip policy, and be available to work beyond the standard nine-month contract as the position demands.
