Job Duties:

The IT Business Analyst II plays a key role in advancing the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay’s mission to provide high-quality, accessible education while supporting strategic priorities that foster student success, community engagement, and operational excellence. This role conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology (IT) solutions with business initiatives. Prepares functional, system, and program specifications. Holds a higher level of technical skills and application in their work, variation in activities, longer-term work, latitude to apply skills to solve routine problems without review, and some latitude to devise the approach and method to performing assignments. Performs routine work without supervision, seeking assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.

Supports the design & development, enhancement, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of Information Technology systems and software, including those enhanced by AI. Provides IT business analysis, business process improvement and/or automation, recommendations & guidance, project management, system administration, configuration, technical & functional support, issue resolution, documentation & training, and/or reporting. Acts as a liaison between other IT staff, functional staff, and/or vendors. May serve as a primary IT contact for specific departments or divisions.

Supports one or more of the following systems and software: Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Student Information System (SIS), Event Management System, Student Resident and Property Management System, ID and Commerce System, Business Process Management (BPM) Workflow System, Electronic Door Access System, Security Camera Software, Document Imaging Software, Human Resources System, Facilities Management Software, Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR), Emergency Alert System, Financial/Accounting Software, Electronic Health Record System, etc. Grounded in UW–Green Bay’s core values, this role empowers campus success, provisions access through reliable systems, builds collaborative community, and advances fearless innovation with gratitude for the people and purpose that define the university.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Devises or modifies moderately complex information systems including analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and revising existing system logic difficulties as necessary
  • Determines and recommends programs required for optimal problem solution within cost/performance objectives
  • Participates in requirements planning and feasibility determination
  • Works on tasks including project or functional requirements, functional design, functional configuration, testing, and documentation
  • Trains, serves as a resource, and provides guidance to other IT business analysts on routine problems, work processes, and policies
  • May work with external vendors or service providers
  • Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements
  • Performs project management tasks in the support of the design & development, enhancement,

    implementation, maintenance, and documentation of IT business systems and services

  • Performs system administration and technical & functional support, including issue resolution,

    data reporting, configurations, evaluating systems & recommending enhancements, and/or

    business process automation

  • Serves as a liaison coordinating communication and collaboration between IT staff, functional

    staff, and/or vendors

Compensation:

Compensation Range of $65,300 to $70,000. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Project management skills, including experience with project planning and timelines
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to formulate and implement practical solutions to complex problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with CRM platforms, such as Salesforce, to support business requirements, process improvements, and system enhancements
  • Experience with relational databases and reporting/querying tools (e.g SQL, Crystal Reports, PeopleSoft Query, XML Publisher, etc.)
  • Information technology experience including researching, developing, implementing, maintaining and integrating information system software applications
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to enhance data analysis, automate routine tasks, and uncover deeper insights that inform strategic decision-making and improve operations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and proven ability to manage complex tasks, large and small, often more than one at a time within tight timeframes with broad supervision
  • Experience with the implementation and/or support of a major information system or software application (e.g. Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Student Information System (SIS), Event Management System, Student Resident and Property Management System, ID and Commerce System, Business Process Management (BPM) Workflow System, Electronic Door Access System, Security Camera Software, Document Imaging Software, Human Resources System, Facilities Management Software, Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR), Emergency Alert System, Financial/Accounting Software, Electronic Health Record System, etc.)
  • Experience with the development of documentation and/or training materials
  • Experience working in a customer service environment
  • Experience in a higher education environment

Conditions of Appointment:

Occasional weekend or evening hours. Occasional travel in state and out of state for meetings and professional conferences

 

This position may have the option to work on-campus or a hybrid schedule, subject to approved telecommuting request. The home campus of this position is Green Bay. 

 

Position is a full-time Academic Staff appointment. A pre-employment education check which includes, but is not limited to, the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s) and if there is prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct.
