What’s the role
Shell is seeking a Business Analyst who is responsible for identifying and documenting the business needs of their clients and stakeholders and helping to determine feasible solutions to meet business needs or resolve business problems.
Accountabilities:
Precisely capture business problems, value drivers, and functional/non-functional requirements, including health, safety, security, usability, data, and supportability considerations
Translate business requirements into functionality and assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options
Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement
Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle
Ensure traceability of requirements from business needs and requirements, through testing and scope changes, to final solution
Interact with software suppliers, designers and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system and database design, and ensure that business requirements and use cases are handled
Configure and document software and processes, using agreed standards and tools
Create acceptance criteria and validate that solutions meet business needs through defining and coordinating testing
Seek guidance from more experienced BAs and be open to learning on-the-job
Special Challenges:
Guide business stakeholders to gain acceptance / sign-off. Manage requirements to the smallest set that will provide the biggest impact in advancing business objectives and end-user buy-in
Describe technology in terms easily understood by business customers and set realistic customer expectations for the project outcome. Adjust customer expectations in accordance with changes in scope
Generate innovative approaches to existing problems or new opportunities
Work closely with stakeholders to build trust and understand their goals, motivations, constraints, risks, and operating environment
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
3+ years of corporate IT experience
Understanding of systems engineering concepts
Agile project experience is an asset
Good understanding and experience of the various Agile frameworks
Experience working in Agile projects and educating stakeholders including Product Owners and Business partners in Agile ways of working
Experience in Agile tooling (ex -VSTS) is a must
Agile certifications/trainings preferred
Ability to take a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving and pay close attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $155,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
