Shipping Clerk

Purpose and Description:           

To efficiently move finished product from holding areas to the warehouse or to prepare it for shipment.

To move materials throughout the production area.

1st shift: Monday through Thursday 5:00am - 3:30pm

Major Responsibilities:

• Operates forklift to move materials and products
• Loads and unloads delivery trucks
• Prepares products for shipment
• Stocks product
• Solves problems regarding packaging solutions

 Other Responsibilities:               

• Organizes warehouse area for efficiency and flow
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment
• Forklift safety check
• Operates banding and shrink wrap machines
• May operate scan guns
• Back up Receiving department

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Desired Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills /Abilities:       

• High school/G.E.D. education
• 1 or more years shipping  experience preferred in a lean manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and understand shipping documents
• Production/shop familiarity (including ability to quickly learn Bauer specific machine names/locations)
• Mechanical aptitude preferred
• Forklift experience / Scissor lift experience
• Self-motivated
• Responsibility/integrity / confidentiality
• Ability to balance multiple concurrent projects and prioritize needs, and meet deadlines
• Adaptable/flexible – to hours, demands, pace, etc.
• Ability to communicate with people at all levels within the company
• Ability to use computers and basic programs to document – specifically Epicor ERP system
• Physical strength required to handle and move parts, boxes, equipment, etc.

Physical Requirements and Environment:           

• May require frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Some  time working near moving mechanical parts
• Majority of time standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling
• Handling, speaking, hearing, seeing, color vision, depth perception
• Indoor, seasonally air-conditioned and heated, machine shop environment
• Frequent noise
• Frequent exposure to chemicals, dirt, oils, solvents, paints, dust
• Eye, hand and hearing protection are required in the production area (employer provided)
• Must pass pre-placement drug screen and background check before starting employment

Tools and Equipment:                  

Computer, printer, phone, ladders, cranes, forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack
