Glenmont Job Corps Center | Bring Your Nursing Skills Somewhere You Can Make a Difference Every Day πŸ’™

Are you a compassionate Registered Nurse looking for a nursing career with a consistent weekday schedule and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact?

Glenmont Job Corps Center is looking for a dedicated RN to join our Wellness Team!

This isn't your traditional hospital nursing position.

You'll work in a student-centered health and wellness environment, helping young adults stay healthy, manage medical needs, understand their health, and receive the care and resources they need to successfully participate in the Job Corps program.

Think of this role as part nurse, part health educator, part care coordinator, and part student advocate.

⏰ Hours

Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week

πŸ“ Location

Glenmont Job Corps Center

🌟 And Yes—No Regularly Scheduled Weekends!

For nurses looking for an opportunity outside of traditional bedside schedules, this position offers the chance to continue using your clinical knowledge while working a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule.

πŸ’™ What Does an RN at Job Corps Do?

Our students are working toward their education, career training, independence, and future employment.

But it's difficult to focus on those goals when you're not feeling well.

That's where our Wellness Team comes in.

As a Registered Nurse, you'll help provide students with accessible, compassionate, and professional healthcare services right on Center.

Your role is to help students stay healthy, address medical concerns, manage ongoing health needs, and connect with outside providers when additional care is necessary.

🩺 What Will You Do?

❀️ Provide Student Healthcare

You'll help address students' everyday health needs while also being prepared to respond when something more urgent happens.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assessing student health concerns

  • Providing preventative healthcare services

  • Responding to illnesses and injuries

  • Providing appropriate emergency nursing care when needed

  • Monitoring students with ongoing or chronic health conditions

  • Following established treatment plans and healthcare protocols

  • Determining when additional medical evaluation is necessary

You'll help students understand:

“Here's what's happening, here's what you need to do, and here's what happens next.”

πŸ’Š Help Students Manage Their Medications

Medication management is another important part of the Wellness Department.

You'll help:

πŸ’Š Oversee medication administration

πŸ“‹ Maintain accurate medication records

πŸ” Monitor medication-related concerns

πŸ“ Follow required documentation procedures

πŸ”’ Protect confidential health information

You'll help ensure medications are handled safely, accurately, and according to established procedures.

🀝 Coordinate Care When Students Need More Support

Not every healthcare need can be handled on Center.

When students need additional care, you'll help connect them with the appropriate resources.

This may include coordinating referrals for:

πŸ₯ Medical services

🦷 Dental care

🧠 Mental health services

πŸ‘©‍βš•οΈ Specialists

πŸ’Š Pharmacy services

πŸ₯ Hospitals or urgent care

🌱 Community healthcare resources

You'll help make sure students don't simply receive a referral—you'll help support the continuity of their care.

🩺 Support Students With Ongoing Health Conditions

Some students may arrive at Job Corps with chronic or ongoing healthcare needs.

You'll help monitor and coordinate appropriate care so students can continue participating safely in their education and career training.

That may involve:

  • Reviewing health information

  • Monitoring chronic conditions

  • Helping students understand their care plans

  • Coordinating with healthcare providers

  • Supporting medication management

  • Providing health education

  • Documenting student progress and concerns

  • Helping students learn how to take greater responsibility for their own health

For many young adults, this may be one of their first experiences learning how to independently manage their healthcare.

🌱 Be a Health Educator, Too

Nursing at Job Corps isn't only about treating illness.

It's also about preventing it.

You'll have opportunities to help students better understand topics related to their health and wellness.

Depending on student needs and program requirements, that may include education around:

❀️ Healthy lifestyle choices

πŸ₯— Nutrition

πŸ’€ Sleep

🧼 Hygiene

πŸ’Š Medication awareness

🩺 Preventative healthcare

🧠 Overall wellness

πŸ₯ Knowing when and how to seek medical care

You're helping young adults develop habits they can carry with them long after they leave Job Corps.

πŸ“‹ Documentation & Confidentiality Matter

Just like any professional healthcare environment, accurate documentation is essential.

You'll maintain student health information and medical records while protecting student privacy.

Responsibilities include:

πŸ“ Maintaining accurate health records

πŸ“‹ Completing required documentation and reports

πŸ”’ Following HIPAA and confidentiality requirements

πŸ“Š Assisting with required health and wellness reporting

πŸ’Š Maintaining medication documentation

🩺 Tracking appropriate student healthcare information

Strong organization, accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail are important in this position.

πŸ₯ Help Keep the Wellness Center Running Smoothly

You'll also support the day-to-day operation of the Wellness Department.

That may include:

πŸ“¦ Monitoring medical supplies and equipment

πŸ“‹ Maintaining appropriate inventory

πŸ“Š Assisting with reports and administrative requirements

πŸ’° Supporting appropriate budget and supply processes

🩺 Assisting with chronic-care programs

πŸ‘₯ Supporting Wellness Department operations

🀝 Coordinating with other healthcare professionals

You'll help ensure the Wellness Center remains organized, prepared, professional, and ready to serve students.

🀝 You'll Work With More Than Just the Wellness Team

Student health can affect every part of the Job Corps experience.

You'll collaborate with staff throughout the Center, including Counseling, Residential Living, Career Technical Training, Academics, Recreation, Safety & Security, and Center leadership when appropriate.

You'll also communicate with outside healthcare providers and community partners to coordinate student services.

This position is ideal for an RN who enjoys working collaboratively and looking at the whole person—not simply one medical concern.
