Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary: Responsible for landscaping and grounds maintenance services for the facility. Assists maintenance specialists with common building repair tasks, completes basic mechanic assistant functions, changes light bulbs, paints doors etc. Job Duties/Responsibilities:   • Ensures landscaping is uniform with a satisfactory appearance, both hardscape and lawn areas • Follows established schedules for trimming/pruning, fertilizing, mowing the lawn, planting, etc • Ability to calculate amount of materials needed for landscaping projects • Ensures work sites are left clean and tools and equipment are returned to storage • Stays current with new landscaping techniques, supplies and equipment • Orients new staff to groundskeeping and equipment • Maintains outdoor equipment and advises Director of Plant Operations when services are needed (oil/filter change, replace part, etc.) • Collaborates with teammates and follows proper chain of command for escalating issues • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education Experience: HS Graduate or Equivalent Years of Related Experience: 1-2 Years License/Certificate Required: No Driver's License Required: Yes Travel Requirements: 25% Age Requirement: 18+ Job Requirements:   • Ability to work under limited supervision • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Strong attention to detail • Physical stamina to handle being active for a full shift • Possesses knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems and maintenance, herbicides/pesticides • Follows all safety regulations: wears safety apparel when working, i.e., safety glasses, appropriate shoes • Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures • Familiarity with or the ability to quickly learn TrackIt and Workhub systems • Ability to use hand tools and power tools • Excellent organizational and time management skills Preferred Skills:   • Background in HVAC, steam production, commercial plumbing, bio-medical, or related experience
