The assistant plays an essential role in translating virtual instruction into effective in-classroom learning, while the virtual teacher remains the teacher of record and retains primary responsibility for instructional planning, teaching, assessment, grading, and academic decisions.

  • Facilitates communication between students and the virtual teacher for the purpose of addressing instructional questions, supporting student understanding, and promoting student responsibility for learning.
  • Prepares, operates, and maintains classroom instructional technology (e.g., conferencing platforms, classroom displays, audio equipment, student devices, and internet connectivity) for the purpose of ensuring effective delivery of virtual instruction and minimizing instructional disruptions.
  • Troubleshoots routine technology issues and implements approved instructional continuity procedures, as necessary, for the purpose of maintaining classroom operations during technical interruptions or virtual teacher absences.
  • Organizes, distributes, collects, and maintains instructional materials, student work, technology, and classroom resources for the purpose of supporting daily instructional activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the availability of necessary learning resources.
  • Responds to and reports student safety concerns, behavioral incidents, and other classroom emergencies in accordance with established school policies and procedures for the purpose of protecting student welfare and maintaining a safe learning environment.
  • Collaborates and communicates routinely with the virtual teacher before, during, and after instruction for the purpose of sharing information regarding student attendance, engagement, behavior, academic progress, technology concerns, and instructional needs.
  • Monitors and documents student participation, assignment completion, learning difficulties, and other classroom observations for the purpose of providing timely feedback to the virtual teacher and identifying students requiring additional academic, behavioral, or technical support.
