This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale preparedness efforts, support emergency exercises, and improve coordination among stakeholders. If you are detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about public service and disaster risk reduction, this position offers a meaningful opportunity to grow your expertise while making a tangible impact.

  • Assist in reviewing and refining emergency management plans to ensure their relevance, clarity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of emergency management exercises, including activities that help validate plans and improve organizational readiness.
  • Contribute to plan socialization and stakeholder engagement activities to promote understanding, coordination, and effective implementation.
  • Prepare briefings, reports, policy documents, and other project materials aligned with client expectations and project objectives.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in emergency management planning, with a demonstrated understanding of planning processes, emergency preparedness frameworks, and operational requirements.
  • Familiarity with emergency management exercise programs and principles, including the development, execution, and evaluation of exercises.
  • Successful completion of Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documents and collaborate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple project priorities.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Willingness to work remotely, travel when required, and relocate to a project site if necessary. Washington, D.C., is the preferred location.
  • Preferred qualifications: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) designation; county-level or higher emergency management experience; and experience supporting large-scale planning initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Benefits

  • Flexible time: Access to flexible time arrangements.
  • Paid time off: Paid leave to support personal needs and work-life balance.
