NURSE MANAGER - ENDOSCOPY/GI LAB - FT DAYS (63382)

Job Summary:  Responsible for the overall delivery of patient care utilizing a system theory approach through assessment, goal setting and outcome evaluation. Practices autonomously and in accordance within professional nursing standards, providing primarily adult care and geriatric population.  In addition, under the direction and supervision of the Surgical Services Director, monitors patient care to assure compliance with standards of care and practice.  Assist in administration functions of planning, coordination, supervision and evaluation of Endoscopy personnel and patient outcomes. The endoscopy nurse manager participates in other multidisciplinary teams to achieve and promote the Hospital’s mission and goals.  Performance expectations are defined in the competency evaluation.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Effectively utilizes nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes.
2. Engages in activities and / or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration of research and evidence based practices.
3. Provides leadership and autonomy in the professional practice setting and the profession.
4.   Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of culture, ethical, and religious diversity.
5. Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to all populations.
6. Assess patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and evaluation. Documents readiness to learn, teaching barriers, and outcomes.
7. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and procedures to include computerized documentation and ordering.
8. Adheres to standard precautions and infection control standards.
9. Coordinates / supervises all aspects of care delivery according to unit / nursing department standards and regulatory requirements.
10. Coordinates unit staffing with the department director in order to assure competent delivery of patient care.
11. Demonstrates managerial responsibilities and skills.
12. Demonstrates responsibility for coordinating unit PI activities.
13. Demonstrates responsibility for staff development.
14. Develops and revises unit policies utilizing SGNA and regulatory standards.
15. Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role. Maintains membership in SGNA. Maintains specialty certification.
16. Acts as a liaison between the nursing staff and the director, medical staff administration and other departments.
17. Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

                Education Level: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred

Certification/Licensure: RN licensed or eligible; ACLS (to be completed in one year); SGNA preferred

Experience Requirements: Five years nursing experience in related field; leadership experience preferred
