Job description
Efficient is developing the world’s most energy-efficient general-purpose computer processor. Efficient’s patented technology uses 100x less energy than state of the art commercially available ultra-low-power processors and is programmable using standard high-level programming languages and AI/ML frameworks. This level of efficiency makes perpetual, pervasive intelligence possible: run AI/ML continuously on a AA battery for 5-10 years. Our platform’s unprecedented level of efficiency enables IoT devices to intelligently capture and curate first-party data to drive the next major computing revolution
This role turns Efficient's product strategy into the technical evidence and evaluation experience customers need to adopt our platform, and keeps product requirements and customer commitments connected to engineering execution.
This is an intentionally broad role on a small, high-leverage Product team. Our Senior Product Managers own strategy and positioning for silicon and software; this role owns the cross-portfolio work that spans them, including the platforms and solutions through which customers evaluate and adopt our products.
You will own real artifacts rather than meetings: the datasheet, the benchmark report, the competitive teardown, the evaluation kit market requirements, the requirements conformance record, and vertical product content.
We are hiring this role as a growth opportunity, with a deliberate first-year ramp. You are not expected to arrive as the deepest expert in every domain this role touches. You are expected to learn quickly, ask technically credible questions, and bring the right people together to reach a clear decision or produce a clear deliverable.
Key responsibilities
Build technical evidence
- Own customer-facing technical content, including datasheets, product briefs, application notes, benchmark reports, and developer materials. Personally produce the highest-value content and build scalable workflows for contributions from Engineering, Applications, and external resources.
- Maintain a competitive view through product teardowns, benchmark methodology, and system-level analysis that informs Product, Sales, and executive decisions. Maintain it continuously.
- Partner with Marketing Technologies to build interactive tools that help customers evaluate energy, performance, and system fit.
- Provide evidence and analysis that inform positioning decisions owned by the Senior Product Managers.
Productize the evaluation experience
- Define product-readiness criteria for evaluation and reference platforms, including hardware, software, documentation, examples, known issues, and shipment readiness.
- Drive platform lifecycle and revision decisions with Engineering and Operations, balancing customer need, readiness, cost, and component availability.
- Partner with Engineering, Applications, Sales, and Operations on internal execution and customer delivery.
Protect product intent through execution
- Maintain the authoritative Product record for customer and partner engagements, including commitments, deliverables, acceptance criteria, decision dates, and scope changes.
- Identify divergence between product requirements and engineering execution, maintain traceability, and drive issues to explicit decisions.
- Own selected cross-portfolio requirements and analyses that do not belong exclusively to the silicon or software roadmap.
Support vertical uses case
- Assist team members to build the market, customer, competitive, and requirements evidence for selected verticals.
- Work with Applications to rollout supporting technical content for target verticals
Required qualifications
We care about what you have demonstrated, not the title you did it under. Many of the strongest candidates for this role are applications engineers, technical marketing engineers, or field engineers working adjacent to a product management function. Product management experience is welcome but not required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years in semiconductors, embedded systems, or a related hardware and software platform business, in applications engineering, technical marketing, product management, or another customer-facing technical role.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of substantial customer-facing technical content or analysis: identifying the need, producing the work, and shipping it, rather than reviewing someone else's draft.
- Experience working directly with customer engineering teams and translating technical findings into product, requirements, or content decisions.
- Technical depth to understand datasheets, reason about system-level tradeoffs, and work credibly with hardware and software engineers.
- Evidence of using tools, automation, or analysis to solve a problem you identified, such as benchmark automation, power or performance modeling, competitive analysis, test tracking, documentation generation, or customer configuration tools. Production software-engineering experience is not required.
- Comfort operating across breadth, ambiguity, and shifting priorities, and the judgment to know what to escalate.
- Willingness to travel for customer, partner, and industry engagements.
Preferred qualifications
Strong candidates typically bring depth in at least one of the following, not all of them.
- Applications or systems engineering with substantial customer engagement and technical writing.
- Technical or product marketing with credible engineering depth and hands-on experience with the products you wrote about.
- Evaluation hardware or platform ownership, including requirements, component selection, cost and performance tradeoffs, and design assets for customer sampling.
- Semiconductor product management with hands-on analytical or automation skills.
Additional useful experience includes microcontroller or processor products and design-ins; compilers, SDKs, firmware, runtimes, or AI/ML deployment frameworks; building technical content workflows from the ground up; benchmarking and energy or performance characterization; and tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and Notion.
We offer a competitive salary for this role, generally ranging from $160,000 and 200,000 along with meaningful equity and comprehensive benefits. The final compensation package will be based on your experience and location, with some flexibility to ensure we align with the right candidate.
Why Join Efficient?
Efficient offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including 401K match, company-paid benefits, equity program, paid parental leave, and flexibility. We are committed to personal and professional development and strive to grow together as people and as a company.
