USGA P.J. Boatwright Internship with Miami Valley Golf
Purpose: To provide a comprehensive introduction and training experience for qualified interns to prepare for a career in golf administration.
Location: The Intern will be based at the Miami Valley Golf office in Dayton, OH and will travel within our association territory.
Areas of Focus
Golf. My Future. My Game. (GMFMG) – is a program founded in 2008 by Craig Kirby, an avid golfer who grew up in the Dayton area. The program’s initiatives create interest and comfort on the golf course, establish connections and generate economic opportunities. GMFMG focuses on bringing the game of golf, and its lessons, to young people who may otherwise not be exposed to the game. Programming is led by William Ware, Central State University Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach. Coach Ware runs two golf camps per week throughout the summer at Meadowbrook Golf Course and takes participants on 3-4 field trips per year. GMFMG has been a part of the Dayton Youth Golf community for about 5 years, and it continues to grow.
Youth in Course (YOC) – is a nationally recognized non-profit based in Pebble Beach, California that is transforming the landscape of golf and the lives of young people who play the game. As YOC has grown, it has done so in partnership with State and Regional Allied Golf Associations (AGA). Nationally, YOC serves more than 140,000 members through subsidized rounds of golf, high school internships, caddie programs and college scholarships. Members throughout the United States and Canada have access to almost 2,000 courses where they can play golf for $5 or less.
Member Engagement Advocate - In this role, the focus is on fostering meaningful connections with current and potential members to enhance their overall experience within our golf community. This role is dedicated to increasing participation, building strong relationships, and ensuring that our members feel valued and supported in every aspect of their golf journey. By engaging with members through personalized communication, events, and feedback-driven initiatives, we aim to create a sense of belonging and ensure that each golfer has access to the resources and opportunities available through Miami Valley Golf.
In addition to strengthening current relationships, the Member Engagement Advocate will work to increase membership by actively reaching out to potential golfers in the Miami Valley territory. Through collaboration with local clubs, targeted outreach, and the promotion of inclusive programs like Youth on Course, we will expand the membership base and promote the benefits of joining our community. This effort will not only grow participation but will also help to sustain the long-term growth and vitality of the game in our region.
