Data Engineer

General Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this position will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable ingestion frameworks across modern data tools. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and passionate about creating data pipelines and models to help solve real-world business problems and should have experience working with cloud-based data platforms.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.

 

1. Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and models for business users.
2. Extract data from various sources using data replication tools and APIs.
3. Scale and optimize exiting data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow and availability.
4. Use data transformation and management tools to ensure high-quality, reproducible, and scalable data models.
5. Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand data needs and implement data models to support business intelligence tools and analytics.
6. Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and quality across all data-related projects.
7. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to the data architecture and tools used within the company.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

1. Strong experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and managing large datasets.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server for querying, data manipulation, and optimization.
3. Experience in Azure or equivalent cloud platform.
4. Strong SQL skills and solid foundation in Python.
5. Proficiency in dbt (or similar) for data transformation, testing, and documentation.
6. Experience in version control (such as Azure DevOps) and collaborative coding workflows.
7. Experience with data replication tools such as Fivetran, Snowflake Openflow or similar replication software.
8. Ability to work on a team and be proficient in collaborating with product owners and development teams.
9. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of incremental logic, schema evolution, and data quality testing.

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

 

 

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science or related quantitative field preferred. 3+ years of proven data engineering experience with hands-on expertise in data integration, data modeling, and ELT processes.

 

 

 

Mental / Physical Requirements: 

 

Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure.
