Custodian - Student Affairs (52949)

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment for assigned areas. This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement upon completion of probationary period. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Wash windows, restrooms and kitchenettes, employee lounges, porches, entryways, walls, doors, and windows as needed.

• Vacuums, sweeps, and empties trash receptacles. 

• Cleans fixtures, blinds, pictures, shelves, drapes and ashtrays. 

• Wash windows, restrooms and kitchenettes, employee lounges, porches, entryways, walls, doors, and windows as needed. 

• Move furniture. 

• Refills toilet supplies in restrooms and hand sanitizer units as needed. 

• Shampoo carpets, strips and waxes floors, as required. 

• Shovels snow in entryways as required. 

• Mop floors on a regular basis. 

• Serves on an on-call list to assist with emergency cleanups. 

• Maintain regular attendance. 

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma . 

• EXPERIENCE: None. 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: 

• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, odd hours, and emergency calls. 

• Must be able to speak and write in English. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:  

• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction. 

• Knowledge in properly handling hazardous chemicals and materials. 

• Knowledge in proper cleaning techniques. 

• Ability to use a ladder and operate cleaning equipment (burnishes, buffers, etc.). 

• Knowledge of safety procedures. 

• Ability to read and write effectively.
