Job description

Not every hero in a veterinary hospital wears scrubs.

At Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC), exceptional patient care starts with a clean, safe, and organized hospital. We're looking for an Overnight Veterinary Hospital Attendant to help support our Emergency & Critical Care team by keeping our hospital running smoothly while the rest of the city sleeps.

This is not a primary animal handling position. While you'll work around animals and may occasionally observe patients, the primary focus of this role is environmental services, infection control, stocking, laundry, and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment for patients, clients, and team members.

If you're someone who takes pride in organization, notices the details others miss, and enjoys staying busy, we'd love to meet you.

Schedule

Day Position

  • Full-time
  • 8a-6p
  • Weekends and holidays required as part of a 24/7 emergency hospital

What You'll Do

  • Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, treatment areas, and public spaces according to hospital disease-control protocols
  • Prepare patient housing areas for incoming patients
  • Wash, fold, and distribute laundry throughout the hospital
  • Restock treatment areas, nurse stations, and supply locations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital
  • Monitor for safety concerns and report issues promptly
  • Support our medical team by ensuring the hospital environment is ready for patient care at all times

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and stay productive throughout the shift
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Comfortable working in a veterinary hospital environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift throughout the shift

Previous housekeeping, custodial, environmental services, hotel, healthcare, veterinary, or hospital experience is helpful but not required.

Why AERC?

AERC is Minnesota's only locally owned emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. For more than 40 years, we've provided advanced care to pets across the Twin Cities while building a workplace where people genuinely enjoy working together.

You'll find:

  • A collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities for growth and development
  • Meaningful work that directly supports patient care
  • A hospital culture built on teamwork, learning, and compassion

This role may not be hands-on with patients, but it has a direct impact on every patient we treat.

If you're looking for overnight work where what you do truly matters, we'd love to hear from you.
