School Food Service - Barista Job Description
About the Position
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Barista to join our team! The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has a passion for coffee and beverages, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing quality beverages and other food items providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming atmosphere for our customers.
Job Responsibilities

Greet customers, faculty, staff and students warmly and provide friendly, attentive service.
Prepare and serve coffee, teas, specialty beverages, and other menu items.
Ensures all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards. Serves food neatly and attractively per standard
Take customer orders accurately and process payments using the point-of-sale system.
Serves customers quickly and efficiently, and prevents delays in serving lines.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, counters, equipment, and dining areas.
Restock ingredients, cups, and other supplies as needed.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and beverage preparation standards.
Respond professionally to customer questions and special requests.
Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient daily operations.
Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and strong attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Previous barista, coffee shop, or food service experience is preferred but not required.
Willingness to learn beverage preparation techniques and company procedures.
A friendly and supportive team environment.
On-the-job training and opportunities to develop new skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift at least 35 lbs., carry, push, and pull food, supplies, boxes, and catering equipment within applicable safety limits.
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to work in both office and food preparation/service environments.
Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including commercial kitchen and refrigerated areas.
