Recreation - Basketball Supervisor

The Borough of Chambersburg Recreation Department is seeking dependable, knowledgeable, and professional individuals to fill multiple openings for the position of Basketball Site Supervisor. In this role, you will act as the principal point of contact on game days, ensuring a safe, fair, and positive competitive environment for all participants, coaches, and spectators.

Position Overview

• Job Title: Basketball Site Supervisor
• Classification: Independent Contractor
• Compensation: $15.00 / hour
• Season Duration: January – March 2027
• Schedule Flexibility: Multiple openings with various shifts available

Coverage Requirements & Shifts

Applicants must be available to provide facility coverage during the following windows:

• Mondays through Thursdays: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
• Saturdays: 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Game Day Representation: Serve as the primary, visible on-site contact during scheduled game days for players, coaches, officials, and spectators.
• Environment Monitoring: Supervise court activities and facility spaces to ensure a safe, organized, clean, and respectful environment.
• Rule Oversight: Apply a solid, working knowledge of basketball rules to answer operational inquiries and support court integrity.
• Conflict De-escalation: Maintain an authoritative, calm, and strictly professional demeanor when interacting with the public or diffusing high-tension situations.
• Values Promotion: Actively advocate for, model, and enforce sportsmanlike conduct, teamwork, and fair play across all leagues.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the rules, mechanics, and flow of the game of basketball.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to manage public relations effectively.
• Ability to handle high-stress situations or emotional conflicts with composure.
• Mandatory Background Clearances: Candidates are required to successfully pass all background checks and employment clearances prior to assignment.
