Job description

Bridgeway is seeking an Associate Platform Engineer who will support the design, development, and maintenance of the infrastructure that supports our software development and deployment. The Associate Platform Engineer will assist in building and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient platforms that enable other Bridgeway teams to develop, test, and deploy applications seamlessly. This role combines aspects of software engineering, systems architecture, and operations, contributing to efforts that ensure the underlying infrastructure meets the needs of Bridgeway's applications and services.

This is a remote position with preference given to East Coast candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of existing cloud infrastructure, helping keep it scalable, resilient, and efficient, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to provision and manage cloud resources.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines, and help automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce the potential for human error.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions, including system and application log retention and pipeline health.
  • Help perform regular system maintenance, updates, and patches, executing against Security-owned patch schedules and standards.
  • Respond to basic issues and support tickets under guidance from more experienced peers, including Tier 2 escalations and auto-escalated alerts from the Tier 1 support team.
  • Contribute to the product and hosting triage runbooks used by the Tier 1 support team.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and contribute to root-cause-analysis content for infrastructure incidents.
  • Support disaster recovery testing and help verify that backup software and configuration are enabled and healthy across systems.
  • Help identify opportunities to optimize system performance, resource utilization, and cloud/infrastructure costs.
  • Support the implementation of security measures, such as firewalls, access controls, and encryption, in line with security best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to understand their needs and provide platform support.
  • Document procedures and workflows, and maintain records of configurations and changes, following Secure SDLC and SCRUM/Agile methodologies.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentorship, training, and paired programming sessions, and share learnings with peers.
  • Contribute to smaller projects with support from experienced peers.
  • Participate in the Tier 2 on-call rotation, providing timely response to infrastructure incidents outside regular business hours as needed.
  • Leverage generative AI tools such as Claude and Copilot to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, improve solution quality, and accelerate delivery of business outcomes.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of professional engineering or IT operations experience with exposure to cloud infrastructure
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with scripting languages
  • Basic knowledge of version control systems
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipeline tools
  • Basic understanding of containerization and orchestration concepts (e.g., ECS, ACA, K8s, Docker)
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks
  • Proficient communication and collaboration skills
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
  • Eagerness to learn and adopt new technologies
  • Experience using generative AI tools such as Claude and Copilot to improve productivity and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Bachelors in Information Technology, Software Development, or related field
