Security Officer; Armed (Sheriff's Office)

As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen. All employees must also submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Responsible for providing security to the Unified Government buildings, employees, and citizens. Duties include checking people entering facilities, monitoring metal detectors and patrolling buildings and their respective properties. Construct professional reports and testify in court, as needed. Utilize varying pieces of equipment including fire alarms, computers and panic alarms. Must be able to effectively use firearms and taser, if necessary. This position is subject to working non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications: High school Diploma or GED or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job and 21 years of age. Must be able to pass basic security course and pass semi-annual weapons qualifications. Course involves handcuffing, responding to active threats and defensive tactics. Must qualify with a Conducted Electrical Weapon (Taser) and pass OC qualification. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including those pertaining to search and seizure, as well as knowledge in security procedures, methods and protocol. Valid Driver's License required at the time of application.

$24.73 per hour
