Job description
Senior Technical Accountant
Are you a proactive, driven accounting professional ready to shape the financial framework of market-leading real estate brands? Join our Regional Controllers team as a Senior Technical Accountant, where you will play a key role across our company-owned brokerages—including Coldwell Banker, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Corcoran.
In this high-visibility role, you won't just balance books—you will elevate operational efficiency, strengthen control environments, and solve complex financial challenges in a dynamic, multi-brand environment. Reporting directly to an Accounting Manager and collaborating with leaders across the organization, you will have the autonomy and platform to set new standards of excellence, sharpen your technical expertise, and drive meaningful operational impact.
This role is based at our headquarters in Madison, NJ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Close & Reporting: Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple brands.
- Technical Accounting & GAAP Compliance: Ensure all accounting practices adhere to U.S. GAAP and internal policies, author technical accounting memos, and research complex or non-routine transactions.
- Audit & Financial Disclosures: Prepare and review financial statement disclosures, support external audit requests, and maintain a robust internal control environment.
- M&A & Corporate Development: Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture activities through accounting due diligence, purchase accounting analyses, purchase price allocations, goodwill assessments, and post-acquisition integration.
Process Improvement & Leadership: Drive operational efficiency by leading process analyses, identifying standardization opportunities, reviewing peer or staff journal entries and reconciliations, and partnering cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, and Corporate Development.
Qualifications:
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA or active CPA candidate preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience, with required internal or external audit experience.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Excel and a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting and financial reporting.
- Core Competencies: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail.
- Work Ethic & Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage tasks, prioritize effectively, work independently, and handle multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Anywhere is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to our employees including:
- Medical, Dental, Vision, Short-term and Long-term disability benefits, AD&D
- 401(k) savings plan with company match
- Paid Time Off to Include Holidays, Vacation Time, and Sick Time
- Paid Family & Paternity Leave
