Job description

Summary

The Winter Recreation Site Attendant plays a critical front-line role in ensuring Lee Canyon’s recreation areas, parking facilities, and public access zones are safe, operational, immaculate, and welcoming for all visitors. This position is responsible for day-to-day site grounds upkeep, active winter snow removal and ice mitigation, basic equipment care, and accurate point-of-sale/cash handling. Operating in an alpine winter environment, attendants exercise sound judgment, uphold rigorous safety standards, and deliver friendly, helpful guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Site Cleanliness & Upkeep: Perform continuous housekeeping, trash pickup, and recycling removal throughout all designated recreation zones, picnic areas, snow play areas, walkways, and parking lots. Regularly empty, clean, and re-line outdoor and indoor receptacles; keep public facilities and staff stations stocked and orderly.
  • Snow & Ice Removal: Clear snow and ice from pathways, stairs, deck areas, and building entrances using shovels, snow blowers, ice scrapers, and salt/sand spreaders. Proactively monitor site conditions and apply salt/sand to eliminate slip-and-fall hazards for guests and staff. Assist in deploying safety fencing, ropes, cones, and winter warning signage around hazardous or closed zones.
  • Equipment Care & Maintenance: Perform routine pre-use checks, cleaning, and basic preventative maintenance on hand tools, snow blowers, utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), and site gear. Ensure all tools, maintenance supplies, and safety equipment are properly inventoried, cleaned, and securely stored at the end of each shift. Identify and immediately report any broken tools, equipment malfunctions, or site repair needs to the supervisor.
  • Cash Handling & Guest Service: Accurately process guest transactions for parking passes, site access, and recreation fees using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Reconcile and balance cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts in compliance with resort cash-handling and audit procedures. Greet visitors warmly, provide directions, answer questions about resort offerings, and promote a positive, memorable mountain experience.
  • Safety & General Duties: Follow all company safety standards, OSHA guidelines, and state/federal labor regulations. Assist parking and base operations teams with crowd control and traffic flow during peak morning arrivals and evening departures. Complete other operational duties and projects as assigned by leadership.
