Change the world. Love your job.

Kilby Labs is looking for a qualified candidate to develop innovative circuits and systems for wireless, RF, and mm-wave technologies targeting industrial, automotive and comms applications. Kilby represents an advanced research and product development support organization within TI chartered to define and develop new and innovative IP in collaboration with business units and customers. Kilby engineers must have the ability to approach new and/or existing problems from a different perspective in a way that results in unique, leap-frog technologies. In addition, Kilby engineers are required to take on all aspects of a project depending on project needs. This can include system engineering work, project planning, design, post-silicon validation etc.

In this role, responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the design of RF, SerDes and mm-wave ICs with project ownership from definition through validation.
  • Architect, design, simulate, and guide the layout of RF and analog IPs.
  • Define the characterization strategy and guide PCB development
  • Characterize the ICs for RF and system level performance using probed or packaged measurements.
  • Competitive benchmarking and tracking latest research in the domain of RF, wireless, wireline, and mm-wave systems.
  • Balancing innovation with execution – to ensure that the IPs are demonstrated in silicon in a timely manner.
  • Working in close collaboration with Process, Packaging, BU partners and other Kilby team members.
  • Supporting the technology transfer and productization of the innovative IPs developed by the team.

  • Must have understanding of and experience with RF design, including small- and large-signal simulations and electromagnetic modeling.
  • Proven track record as a strong team player.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expertise on clocking circuits including frequency synthesizers (PLLs) and clock distribution techniques for RF, SerDes or mm-wave applications.
  • Experience with CMOS, SiGe HBT, and III-V technologies is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in characterization and debug of RF circuits and systems including de-embedding methods, use of RF instrumentation.
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships.
  • Good listener and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
