Job description

**Job Title:** Household Manager with Childcare Support **Location:** New York, NY 10022 **Employment Type:** Part-time | 10 hours per week **Schedule:** Thursday is the preferred anchor day, with potential secondary availability on Monday or Wednesday. **Compensation:** $35–$42 per hour, based on experience **Start Date:** Mid November ### **Requirements** - Maintain a smoke-free environment. - Must be authorized to work in the United States. - Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, subject to applicable legal accommodations. - Fragrance-free or minimal-fragrance products strongly preferred. - CPR/First Aid certification preferred. - This is an in-person role requiring teamwork with other providers in the home. ### **About Our Family** We're a busy, warm family based in Midtown Manhattan with three young children. Our household runs on a full schedule — between activities, appointments, school routines, and the everyday rhythm of life with kids of varying ages, there is always something in motion. We already have a strong support team in place and we're looking for someone who fits naturally into that ecosystem. This role is about adding a layer of operational support that keeps things moving between all those moving parts. We appreciate someone who brings initiative, follows through without being asked twice, and genuinely enjoys contributing to a well-run home. We also have a second property in Long Branch, New Jersey, that we use seasonally. While it requires only occasional coordination throughout the year, we are looking for someone comfortable supporting the logistics of both properties as needed. The home is easily accessible by train from Manhattan. ### **Who You Are / What We're Looking For** You are proactive, dependable, and highly organized. You anticipate needs before they become problems and communicate ahead of time when your schedule changes or something comes up. You're comfortable navigating a busy household where priorities can shift and you know how to pivot without losing the thread. You proactively anticipate potential challenges and develop solutions to bring to the family for discussion and resolution. Equally important, you're present and engaged when you're in the home. You bring genuine warmth to your interactions with the children and enjoy being a steady, positive presence in their day-to-day lives. You understand that working closely with a family requires trust, discretion, flexibility, and open communication. You are confident independently managing the everyday fundamentals of household life and take pride in doing those things thoughtfully and well. You are tech-savvy and solutions-oriented, with the ability to foster collaboration between the family and household staff, bringing a calm, positive, and professional approach to challenges. ### **Key Responsibilities** **Family Support** - Provide school pickups and drop-offs, including transportation to after-school activities and appointments - Provide light supervision oversight and a calm, supportive presence during the non-school hours - Reinforce after-school and household routines, maintain tidy bedrooms and kitchens, organize school communications and parent updates, and prepare children’s bags for the next day and activities - Provide light backup childcare support and assist with coordination around family outings and activities or unusual schedule adjustments (sick kids, half days, change of schedules etc) - Prioritize children’s care and safety when primary caregivers are not available or you’re alone with the children, postponing household tasks as needed **Household Organization & Maintenance** - Perform daily resets and light tidying between scheduled cleaning days - Perform a monthly declutter of toys by organizing and inventorying items, storing unused toys, identifying incomplete sets, discarding broken toys, and noting items for replacement - Track household inventory — pantry, fridge, baby supplies — and flag or obtain items running low - Manage incoming packages by retrieving, opening, and sorting deliveries to the appropriate areas of the home - Collaborate with nanny for clothing organization across children of different sizes: hand-me-down rotation, storage, and donation prep - Clean and maintain humidifiers, vacuums, cleaning supplies and air purifiers - Coordinate repairs, deliveries, set up and maintenance with building staff or outside vendors for both properties - Support 1–2 seasonal deep cleans per year (closets, storage areas, linen organization) - Coordinate the sale, donation, or delivery of items the family wishes to remove, including creating listings, arranging pickups, and packaging items for delivery to friends and family - Oversee occasional coordination needs at secondary home in NJ **Inventory & Errands** - Handle grocery and specialty shopping as needed, including Trader Joe’s and local produce markets - Manage Amazon and other returns, including preparing packages and coordinating drop-offs as needed - Take care of ad hoc shopping, gift sourcing, and pickups for special occasions and family events - Manage incoming packages by retrieving, opening, and sorting deliveries to the appropriate areas of the home **Administrative and Calendar Support** - Review and maintain family calendar: add events, flag items that affect parents' work schedules, and support calendar tools. This entails frequent communication with family on conflicts and childcare coverage. - Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and other providers as needed **Laundry & Linens** - Assist with laundry on an as-needed basis including folding and put laundry away ### **How to Apply** Please submit a short intro letter telling us a bit about yourself and why this role is a great fit, an updated resume, and 3 professional references with contact information. Please note: this role requires a background check. *When you apply with Sage Haus, you'll also be added to our candidate community email list so we can share hiring updates, resources, and opportunities.
